Audio-Description

Audio-description, also referred to as a video-description, described video, or more precisely called a visual description, is a form of narration used to provide information surrounding key visual elements in a film, TV, or theatrical performance. Generally, audio-descriptions are for the benefit of blind and visually impaired consumers. These narrations are typically placed during natural pauses in the audio, and sometimes during dialogue if deemed necessary.

Essentially, describers watch a program and write a script describing visual elements which are important in understanding what is occurring at the time and the plot as a whole.

Our approach to Audio-description

We begin with a pre-analysis of the project. We consider the quantity and length of the lapses between dialogue and other significant sound elements. It is within these lapses that we can place concise, objective descriptions. After that, we create a script appropriate to the age of the target audience. Our service includes linguistic proofreading, using a single reviewer for each project. We can also offer supervision of the sound recording.

We only use native-speaking voice-over talents and directors. This is a fast-moving industry! And we regularly attend industry seminars and conferences to ensure we are up to date with all the latest developments.
