Who are our customers? Knowledge and experience in your industry is the starting point when choosing a translation supplier. We all agree that to translate documents accurately and with style is impossible if you don´t have a thorough understanding of the subject matter. A highly specialized medical journal simply cannot be translated by someone without any experience in the specific medical field. A manual for installing a fire sprinkler system cannot be translated by someone who barely knows what a sprinkler is.
But finding an experienced translator in itself doesn´t necessarily guarantee you will be satisfied with the translation you receive. Someone with years of experience translating for your competitors, for instance, will not know what your preferred terminology is. So the final result might not be what you expected and will therefore require extra work/time/effort/expense.
