Autumn, also known as fall, is the month that precedes winter and is characterized by bare trees and leaves everywhere! Normally lasting for about three months, autumn is said to start sometime in August/September and ends in December, sometime before Christmas. The month of autumn is often depicted as romantic in popular literature, and the walk through the leaves is as cliché as it got when writers chose to pin it down.
Translators of popular novels have also argued that in each language, the description of this particular season cannot be replicated from one language to the other. Translation agencies have done their best but the autumn described by Shakespeare or Voltaire can never be compared to the autumn described by contemporary authors. With that said, let us look into several scenic places around the globe where tourism hits a peak during autumn.
Japan hosts a unique culture as compared to the rest of the world. With unique houses whose traditional style can be traced back several centuries, Japan hosts a plethora of species of trees that give off different shades of the color green and pink in autumn. That, coupled with flowing streams and fish-ponds, Japan is a must go if you want to enjoy the colors of autumn!
Presenting itself as a picture straight out of a storybook, Bavaria hosts a good number of scenes beauties such as castles, hills and a wide variety of plants and flowers. As the leaves change color as the season progresses, the expenses of traveling all the way to Bavaria are readily compensated for regarding beauty.
Jhuizaigo valley, China
This particular piece of land stretches to about 180,000 acres and is now a UNESCO world heritage site. The natural park hosts a wide range of flora and fauna, along with waterfalls and lakes. A major attraction is the five flower lake, which is relatively shallow, is a must-go if you’re visiting the spot. The crystal-clear water under the blue sky gives you a peek into the bottom of the lake, and one can view all the tree-trunks and stones that have accumulated at the bottom of the lake. A particular translation agency used the word Tiāntáng to describe this spot, which means heaven.
Smoky Mountains, USA
The smoky mountains are an open terrain with no such dense vegetation but a lot of shallow vegetation. This is also why this location serves as a favorite for hikers, bikers and long-distance runners. On any particular ridge or cliff, the view of the sunset in autumn is exceptional, complimented by the wide spectrum of colors that the plants and trees reflect under the sun.
Famous as a hub during the Renaissance, the glory of the ancient city lives up to the hype especially in autumn. When the vineyards and the sunflower fields start showing the glory of their color, it creates a scene the one doesn’t forget too easily. The occasional rain, complemented by a rainbow, is a sight that tourists often remark about in their journals and reviews!
