QuickSilver’s Proofreading Service

Proofreading and Review

We provide a proofreading service to ensure that your text is grammatically correct and in an appropriate register, in whichever language it is written. That is, appropriate for the language, for the market, and for your target audience.

We also offer a review/proofreading service for texts which have already been translated. Consider, however, that reviewing a badly translated document often takes as long or longer than re-translating it from scratch.

If you are on a tight budget, then a possible solution is using a machine translation service (we would not recommend the well-known, free ones!), followed by review and editing by a human professional.

Localisation

QuickSilver helps companies create or adapt their sales materials and websites to different linguistic areas according to their needs (marketing, technical, journalistic, etc.). We take care of translating, reviewing and writing any type of document, using our pool of highly qualified professional linguists.

In the case of technical translation, accuracy is of course the most important factor. But in the case of marketing collateral, for example, it is fundamentally important to produce a text which reads as if it were written by a native speaker. This will be more effective in communicating your message.

In order to achieve best results the first time around, one must establish a clear and defined line of communication with your language service provider, specifying what is expected. It’s important to consider your preferred tone, technical terminology, as well as personal preferences.

Quality control

For this reason, at Quicksilver Translate we invariably use translators who are native speakers of the target language. In addition, during the final stage of our review process, translations are evaluated on their own merits. That means, without comparing them to the source text. Having been edited thoroughly for accuracy, we check that all translations are phrased in a way that a native speaker would use.

Updating your documents

Each time you work with us, we will feed your text into a (client-specific) Translation Memory (TM). We create a TM for every client. Over time, we build up a bank of your most commonly used phrases and terminology. Your TM will save you money on future projects as, invariably, some of your text will have already been translated. A TM will also ensure that terminology (technical, or brand messaging) will be translated the same way, every time.
