Company History

QuickSilver Translate was set up, like all the most successful companies, in MD Stephen Whiteley’s living room in May 2004. Around this time, Colin Whiteley left Tyco after 35 years at a senior level, and in October 2004 the father and son team went into business together. The combination of Stephen’s background in business and knowledge management and Colin’s linguistic expertise enabled the company to grow rapidly; in 2005 they hired QuickSilver’s first employee and opened the Barcelona office.

In 2006 they opened an office in Shanghai, soon followed by one in London, giving the company a truly global reach. A major milestone was reached in 2008 when QuickSilver obtained an ISO 9001:2000 certification, demonstrating its ability to consistently deliver a high quality service.

QuickSilver Translate now has a core team of ten people, including linguists and desktop publishing specialists, and co-ordinates a global network of over 3500 translators. QuickSilver recently completed its 5000th project and in 2012 hopes to reach the one million euro mark – a goal which, despite the recent crisis, looks eminently achievable.
